EXCEPTIONAL AND SCARCE FIRST ISSUE OF HEMINGWAY’S MEN WITHOUT WOMEN, INSCRIBED BY HEMINGWAY

HEMINGWAY, Ernest. Men Without Women. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1927. Octavo, original black cloth, gold paper labels, original dust jacket. Housed in a custom clamshell box.

First edition, first issue, in rare first-issue dust jacket, inscribed by Hemingway: “To R—— D—— with all best wishes. Ernest Hemingway.”

Among the stories included in this early collection are “The Killers,” “Ten Indians,” “Today is Friday” and “Hills Like White Elephants.” First issue, printed on heavy stock (overall weight of 15.8 ounces), in first-issue dust jacket, with plain orange bands across the front, and two errors on the front inner flap. Hanneman A7a. Cohn, 29-30. Bookseller ticket.

Book extremely good, with a bit of wear to cloth and labels and mild toning to spine. Rare dust jacket near-fine, with light rubbing to extremities and slight toning to spine. A desirable inscribed copy.
