In the late 19th and early 20th centuries a number of itinerant photographers produced an astonishing quantity of high-quality photographs of Egypt for the burgeoning tourist trade. Their activity spanned the period when the most profound changes began to alter Eastern landscapes and ways of life irretrievably, so that they were consciously able to record scenes unchanged for millennia, as well as the advent of occidental technology and mores (see Gavin, Images of the East).

Very minor dust-soiling to mount. Image clear. Near-fine condition.
