Blaizot’s extensive essay on perfumes and perfume-makers includes chapters on the art of perfume-making, the history of perfumes, the historical relationship between perfume-makers and apothecaries, the symbolism of perfumes, olfactory memories, and “les parfums et l’amour.” French illustrator and costume designer Lepape was known for his fashion illustrations, which appeared regularly in Parisian periodicals such as Gazette du Bon Ton, Journal des Dames et des Modes, and Modes and Manieres d’Aujourd’hui, as well as Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Vanity Fair. This is one of 500 on Vélin de Rives paper, from a total edition of only 535 copies. Text in French.
