Glossary

Advance Copy: copies of a new book circulated to the publishing industry prior to the release of the true first edition. These advance copies, which may or may not show variation from the true first editions, are considered to be examples of an early state of the printed text. Often released in wrappers, they may also be bound. The binding or text may carry a feature that is left out of the first edition released to the public, although the latter is still considered the true first edition.
