TWENTY CLASSICAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF NUDES, CIRCA 1925
ARLAUD, G.L. Vingt Études de Nu en Plein Air. Paris: Éditions d’Art Horos, circa 1925. Tall folio (10-1/2 by 16-1/2 inches), original limp paper portfolio, contents loose as issued. $950.
First trade edition of this lovely collection of twenty heliogravures, including eight duotones.
Arlaud, located in Lyon, traveled throughout France to photograph naked women in the Alps, in caves, in orchards, in the Mediterranean, and even on a glacier, for this lovely work of “Twenty Studies of Nudes in the Open Air.” While evoking comparisons to dryads and naiads, Arlaud’s nudes are also reminiscent of the paintings of Maxfield Parrish. Each photograph 8-1/2 by 6 inches. With original advertising pamphlet.
Only very lightest foxing to original portfolio. Photographs lovely and vivid. A fine collection.
