After minor roles on the English stage, Irish comedian Tyrone Power achieved great popularity when called upon to replace Charles Connor, who died in 1826 in the middle of his career as one of the leading comedians of the day. These memoirs recount the first of Power's several trips to America, where he performed in Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, and other major cities.
