Rackham illustrates such classic morality tales as "The Hare and the Tortoise," "The Fox and the Grapes," "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse," "The Fir-tree and the Bramble" and "The Shipwrecked Man and the Sea." "The Aesop illustrations contain several self-caricatures of Rackham, including the man who catches the flea" (Dalby, 78). A signed limited quarto edition of 1450 copies was issued simultaneously.
