FROST, Robert. Autograph letter signed. Chapel Hill, North Carolina, March 14, 1959. One leaf measuring 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, writing on recto, together with the original envelope. $950.
Autograph postscript signed by Robert Frost, added to a letter written by Professor C.P. Lyons of the University of North Carolina.
The letter, on the letterhead of the English Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, reads: "March 14, 1959. Dear Mr. And Mrs. Tull: Mr. Frost, who is with us for several days—as every year—has been reading, enjoying, and commenting on Mrs. Tull's volume of poems, which you kindly sent several years ago—and which stays on a table in the living room. And we have been talking about his visit there, and my good years there. And we just want to send greetings. Did I hear that Mrs. Tull has not been well? Cliff Lyons." Beneath that Robert Frost has added: "In which I join with best wishes and the corroboration of what Cliff says about the book of poetry. Robert Frost." The recipients of this copy were Clyde Tull, an English professor at Cornell College in Iowa, and his wife Jewell, a published poet. Both of the Tulls were close friends with the poet Carl Sandburg.
