First edition of this finely printed reproduction of 50 of Goya's most famous paintings, number 489 of 500 copies.
Includes fine folio reproductions of Goya's iconic images such as his self-portrait, "The Third of May, 1808," the portrait of his wife, Doña Josefa Bayeu, "The Duke of Osuna and his Family," "La Maja Vestida" and "La Maja Desnuda," some of his ceiling frescoes, and even a "black painting" painted on a wall of his country house La Quinta del Sordo near the end of his life. Many of the originals are in the Prado, though this collection brings together paintings found in other museums and collections in Madrid and throughout Europe. Introduction by Paul Lafond.
