Third edition, aboundly illustrated with woodcuts and five fold-out engravings (one hand-tinted in outline), handsomely bound by the Burrows Brothers.

Rawlinson, a noted historian, supplements his study of Herodotus with abundant notes and appendices. Valuable notes on the geography, ethnography and history of the Eastern nations were contributed to the work by Rawlinson's brother Sir Henry Creswicke Rawlinson, the famous Assyriologist and philologist.

Spines evenly toned to brown. Handsomely bound.
