MacArthur: His Rendezvous with History, covers the years 1941 to 1951 in the legendary career of General Douglas MacArthur, who was Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in the South Pacific and accepted Japan's surrender. The author, Major General Courtney Whitney, received a law degree from George Washington University, after which he went into private practice in Manila. He joined MacArthur's WWII staff, directing MacArthur's guerilla army in the Phillipines, and served as a senior official during the occupation of Japan. Bookplate.
