MACARTHUR, Douglas. Revitalizing A Nation. Chicago: Heritage Foundation, (1952). Slim octavo, original blue cloth, photographic endpapers, original dust jacket.
First edition, signed by MacArthur on the half title.
"I shall continue to fight against the greatest scourge of mankind, communism, as long as God gives me the power to fight." A collection of reflections by General Douglas MacArthur, with a preface by Norman Vincent Peale, Revitalizing A Nation was in part an attempt to present MacArthur in a positive and more well-rounded light. After his removal from command by Truman in 1951, and with an eye toward the Republican presidential nomination, MacArthur toured the country giving speeches, which were less and less well attended as time went on, with the general being increasingly seen as motivated by a personal animosity towards Truman rather than by any positive vision for the country. In the end, MacArthur's political quasi-campaign stalled, and the general endorsing Robert Taft, who lost the nomination to Eisenhower. With 27 photographs.
Book fine, dust jacket with one chip to head of mildly toned spine, short closed tear to front panel. Near-fine condition.
