Signed limited illustrated edition of this classic Poe tale, this copy number 1313 of only 1500 signed by illustrator Alice Neel and by Raphael Soyer, who contributed the “Artist’s Tribute” to Neel’s career.
Illustrated with two lithographs printed in color after paintings by Neel and three line etchings after drawings. The color lithographs reproduce two of Neel's best-known paintings, "Nadja" (1929) and "Requiem" (1927). Soyer writes of Neel, "the truth is, and I have no doubt of it, that Neel is one of the greatest of American painters." This work was finished just prior to Neel's death in 1984 and published posthumously. With LEC newsletter laid in.
