THE WRITINGS OF OSCAR WILDE, WITH DOUBLE-SUITE ILLUSTRATIONS, BEAUTIFULLY BOUND

“Edition de Grand Luxe” of the works of Oscar Wilde, number 4 of only 100 sets, illustrated with numerous double-suite engravings and photogravures, beautifully bound in Art Nouveau morocco-gilt bindings by Tapley.

Title pages printed in black and red, with additional engraved title pages in each volume and double-suite frontispieces and illustrations. Contains Wilde's only novel (The Picture of Dorian Gray), his plays (including, among others, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Salome in which are reproduced four of Aubrey Beardsley's famous illustrations), poems, fairy tales, essays, lectures, reviews, and other selected prose, as well as a volume of "His Life with a Critical Estimate of his Writings" and a volume of his mother's writings, "Essays and Stories by Lady Wilde." This very early edition precedes the 1908 Ross edition of Wilde's works, often described as the first collected edition. Library blindstamps. Faint evidence of bookplate removals.
