“I photograph people because I am fascinated by human behavior, whether it be loud and exuberant or tranquil and restrained.” Gatewood began as a staff-photographer, first at the Manhattan Tribune and then for Rolling Stone. In 1974, he embarked on a free-lance career, documenting street life and human behavior for such publications as the New York Post, Popular Photography, Spazz, and Taste of Latex. This is Gatewood’s first book, a selection images resulting from a workshop he conducted for the International Center of Photography in 1975, entitled “Photographing People.”
Fine condition, with only a bit of sticker residue to back board.
