Named the "American Baudelaire" by editor William Marion Reedy, Francis Saltus was highly respected during the 19th century for his poetry which reflects the influence of Poe, Gautier, and, of course, Baudelaire. Works include Shadows and Ideals, Dreams After Sunset, Flasks and Flagons, The Witch of En-Dor, and The Bayaders. With frontis portraits. Title pages in red and black.
