First edition of Green’s early novel, number 583 of 1250 copies printed on vélin du marais, handsomely bound.

Green was an American writer who lived most of his life in France and wrote primarily in French—he became the first non-French national elected to the Académie Française. As he tells it in his preface, during a visit to his mother’s house he found a manuscript that he had written when ten years old—the first part of Les Clefs de la Mort. The rest of the book is Green’s completion of that much earlier work. From a total edition of 1400 copies. Bookplate.

Fine condition. A handsome volume.
