One of only six photographers selected for the 1996 “New Photography” exhibit at MoMA, Kanemura creates images that “nearly explode with signage, electrical wires, lights, scaffolding, hanging plastic ornaments, railings, balconies and construction litter… an out-of-control world held together only by the edge of the photographic frame” (ArtForum).
